GINIE'S Cousin, RYAN BINGHAM, WON both The ACADEMY AWARD for Best Song and also The GOLDEN GLOBE!

Golden Globe - Academy Award?

I do not know Ryan but his mother's family I knew quite well because we are cousins. His mother was Cindy Morris, who was a pretty young girl, a cheerleader in my hometown, Big Spring, Texas, and a sweet-natured person. She married George Bingham and Ryan was born in New Mexico. Cindy died a few years ago. In my Morris Family Tree Album, I have a picture of Ryan with his mother, Cindy, and his beautiful sister, Maren.

In his prior performance on Letterman (above) he sang Tell My Mother I Miss Her So which, although it is a spirited song, was written as part of his effort to deal with the death of his mother, Cindy Morris Bingham.

Ryan Bingham, began his singer-songwriter career in Stephenville, Texas in 2005. He co-wrote and sings his song in the new movie, Crazy Heart, starring Robert Duvall and Jeff Bridges.  The song - The Weary Kind - is performed by Ryan in the movie. That song just won the Golden Globe Award - and I am hoping he wins The Academy Award with it, too. He had many hardships - hoorah for Ryan! He sang it solo on David Letterman in Jan 11, 2010.

I am very proud of this most deserving young cousin. And I am proud for his late mother, Cindy. I just wish she could have lived long enough to experience his success.  - Ginie Sayles
